Inside The Coronavirus

3-D rendering of virus
Function: Art Direction, Web Design & Web Development

I worked with the editors, senior graphics editor, and senior multimedia editor at Scientific American to translate a feature that originally appeared in print into a fully interactive step-by-step display for how the COVID-19 virus infects the human body and how our body fights to combat it. The project required breaking down complex information graphics and rethinking how the content is presented for both mobile and desktop platforms. We commissioned artist, Veronica Falconieri, to create a 3-D model of the virus and designed an annotated, fully interactive component to compliment several animated graphics. I was responsible for all of the interactive design, full front-end development, and all cross-browser testing using BrowserStack.
